Robert P. Rich

Robert P. Rich is a graduate of:

 

Swarthmore College (B.A. Political Science)

 

University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D.)

 

Robert has practiced law for over three decades and has diverse and comprehensive experience in litigation and mediation, including work as a Superior Court Research Attorney, a Deputy Public Defender, a Hearing Officer, and representing clients in a wide range of matters in private practice.  In 2013 he opened his own firm and brings this experience to providing strong advocacy and thoughtful advice to his clients.

 

Robert’s professional career began with a two-year clerkship as a Research Attorney with the Alameda County Superior Court, clerking for Judges including the Presiding and Supervising Judges.  Robert assisted the Judges by providing analysis to them on diverse cases and legal proceedings, including motions, writs and other applications, gaining understanding of how judges decide issues in connection with thousands of cases spanning many areas of the law.

 

Robert developed trial advocacy expertise serving as public defender with the Office of the Alameda County Public Defender representing clients at hundreds of hearings as well as at trials.



 

Since leaving criminal law, Robert focused on a wide array of complex civil litigation from real property disputes and breach of contract cases to unfair business practices, representing individuals, small businesses, and larger enterprises in both State and Federal Court, at the trial level and on appeal.   Robert has large and small firm experience.  He was with the firm of Belzer, Hulchiy & Murray, a litigation and transactional firm with a diverse practice, before opening his own office in Walnut Creek in 2013. 

Robert also served as a Hearing Officer for the Alameda County Superior Court.

 

He is trained in conflict resolution as a mediator. 

 

In the community, Robert served on the Contra Costa County Jewish Community Center Board, including as President, and sent four children though the Walnut Creek public schools.
